biography:

Matthew is co-founder and President of the 3929 Foundation, where he provides strategic leadership for the organization’s community-focused grantmaking, partnerships, and long-term initiatives. In this role, he is deeply committed to expanding access to opportunity, strengthening communities, and supporting programs that create meaningful and lasting impact.

He also serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Building Trades Construction, a general contracting firm specializing in commercial construction. In this capacity, Matthew oversees the company’s strategic direction, operational leadership, and day-to-day execution. Under his leadership, Building Trades Construction emphasizes quality craftsmanship, accountability, safety, and the development of skilled professionals within the construction trades.

Matthew’s professional journey is grounded in both education and athletics. He began his collegiate career at Johnson County Community College, where he was a member of the baseball program, before transferring to Northwest Missouri State University. At Northwest, his major was  Business with a minor in Marketing while continuing to compete as a student-athlete. Following graduation, Matthew signed a professional baseball contract with the Atlanta Braves and later played for the Richmond Roosters, experiences that helped shape his leadership style through discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

A dedicated family man, Matthew places a high value on mentorship and involvement, coaching his sons, Connor and Kelly, in baseball and basketball throughout their youth. Outside of his professional and philanthropic work, he enjoys spending time with Family and Friends, attending concerts, traveling, and staying active through pickleball. Matthew is also a passionate sports fan, proudly supporting the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas Jayhawks, and the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats.
